What this site covers
Austin Tweet is about one thing: how Austin, Texas talks about itself on the internet. We cover the hashtags and the shorthand, the neighborhood threads and group chats where the real recommendations get traded, the murals and landmarks the whole city photographs, and the arguments and in-jokes that loop through the feed year after year. It's a read on the city's online personality, written for anyone trying to understand the place through a screen.
What it is not
This is not a directory of accounts to follow, and it is not a ranking. We don't publish a leaderboard of influencers or a "who to follow" list, and we don't scrape or republish anyone's posts or anyone else's compilations. We describe communities and patterns in our own words, from our own observation. When we point to a source, we link it and move on.
Why it exists
A city's feed is one of the first things newcomers meet and one of the last things longtime residents agree on. Austin's is especially loud and especially self-aware — it has been arguing about what the city is becoming since long before the timeline existed. We think that conversation is worth describing plainly, without hype and without turning real people into a contest.
How we work
Every page is built to be useful first. No pop-ups, no paywall, no autoplay. We write in our own words, cite rather than copy, and keep the photography to freely licensed images with full credit. Corrections are welcome.
Who publishes it
Austin Tweet is part of the WholeTech Network, an independent Austin, Texas publisher that has been building websites since 1996, starting with one of the city's first online communities. The network spans more than a hundred sites, each focused on a single subject, all running on one server.
